Is there a portable MP3 player that plays 8kHz files?

I am having great problems finding an MP3 player that plays 8 or 11kHz "voice podcasts" which are in MP3 format.

For example, last night I spent $120 on a Samsung MP3 player which cannot play any MP3s less than 22kHz.

I have lots of "voice" MP3s which are 8 to 11Khz, 2-channel and 16kbits/s %26amp; take ages to convert to 22kHz on my pc.

Any suggestions?
