How do you say "Plays were performed in this theatre" in Latin?

How do you say "Plays were performed in this theatre." in Latin?

What tense would that be? Is there another way to say it in the perfect tense?

Thanks alot!

How do you say "Plays were performed in this theatre" in Latin?hollywood theater

"Fabulae in hoc theatro factae sunt"

"fabulae" is translating "plays" with meaning of theatrical works.

Tens to be used is the Indicative perfect of the passive form.

As alternative (with the meaning "plays have been performed in this theatre) you could use the Indicative pluperfect still in the passive form and then sentence would be

"Fabulae in hoc theatro factae erant"

Edit #1 - ref.below answer I reconfirm my choice of the verb

"facere" instead of "agere"

As per this very popular on line dictionary

http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/...

the verb perform translates into Latin with different verbs, included my option "facio, facere" while I can't see the below suggested "ago, agere": I've made a reverse research and ago is not translating "to perform"

http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/...

I know the Latin saying "Acta est fabula, plaudite!" but its meaning is " The play is over, applaud!" (and not " The play was performed, applaud !").

How do you say "Plays were performed in this theatre" in Latin?opera.com opera theaterInformative perhaps - but wrong. That translation is incorrect. It means something like 'plays were built in this theatre'. The only verb to use with plays/performances etc. is ago, agere, egi, actus. As one answer pointed out, where do you think the word actor came from? Report It

Los juegos fueron realizados en este teatro
Ludi (scaenici) facti sunt in hoc theatro.

P.s. I don't know what you exactly mean "Plays" ... I intended them as performances.

If you need translation into Latin

hugo_neep@hotmail.it
Fabulae in hoc theatro actae sunt.

Would agree with above except for choice of verb -

'To perform a play' was 'agere fabulam', so verb would be a tense of agere, in this case 3rd plural, perfect tense, passive voice.

ADDED: The root of the English word 'actor' is the Latin 'actus' the same root as 'actae' in the translation. It means 'one who performed in plays.' And, of course, the literal translation of 'Acta fabula est, plaudite' really is 'The play was performed; applaud.' The bit about 'The play is over' was just to put it in colloquial English.

How does it work? Wild card team plays which team? How is this figured out?

2007 MLB Playoffs - Who Plays Who?

the wild card plays the team with the best record, unless the team with the best record is in the same division as the wildcard. if the season ended today the playoff's would look like this.

ALDS

Red Sox vs Indians

Angels vs Yankees

NLDS

Mets vs Cubs

Diamondbacks vs Brewers

at the moment the cubs and brewers are tied in the NL central, btu the brewers have a better divisional record so the cubs would be the wildcard.

What are some Highly Effective NCAA 2007 Football offensive Plays?

I have a few go-to plays, does anyone have plays that work anywhere between 60-95 % of the time...also what are some good defensive coverages when playing a team that mixes up the run and the pass quite well?

What are some Highly Effective NCAA 2007 Football offensive Plays?extension

Empty backfield: Hitch play where the two outside receivers do a hitch the one on the right open about 85% of the time. Also in that same formation the play is to the right of the hitch (can't think of the name) where both outside receivers do a comeback route, hit the receiver on the left (if it is man coverage) in a zone you can try the deep ball and everyone in a while the tight end (this play will work EVERYTIME if you can read the defense). Won the NC with UK my first year on Heisman using this method. Option works quite well too.

What are some Highly Effective NCAA 2007 Football offensive Plays?movie theater opera theater

i would have to say the option is one of the most effective plays in college football
I'm not sure if it is NCAA 2007, but I run a play in the Shotgun Trip formation. The two outside recievers run a post, and the slot receiver runs a quick outside slant about 5 yards to the sideline. It is a short pass, but usually the defense is too far back to cover it and the receiver is ALWAYS open and can usually get some good yards because he is one-on-one with the DB. Works best on the far side of the field.

On defense, the monster blitz in the 4-3 works pretty well.

Your best bet is to tell your coach or team to invest in training material especially tapes or dvds its going to be hard for someone to give plays here cause unlike basketball and american football there are no play books.

Why are some football plays recorded as over 100 yards?

Some plays end as soon as the plane of the end zone is broken and like yesterday (9-9-07) there was a 108 yard kickoff return.

Why are some football plays recorded as over 100 yards?met opera

Plays do end when they reach the end zone, but some plays begin in the end zone.

Kickoffs, interception returns and fumble returns can begin inside the end zone.

Therefore, their is 8 yards added to that type of play.

Why are some football plays recorded as over 100 yards?movie theatre opera theater

the field is 100 yards long. The endzones are an extra 10 yards in. 108 yards is 8 yards deep in the endzone
The field is only 100 yards long, that is where the 100 comes from. The 8 is how deep in the end zone the player received the ball. If a kick is received 8 yards deep then it is added to the 100.

Why did Shakespeare's plays often have only roles for men?

Why did Shakespeare's plays often have only roles for men?

Why did Shakespeare's plays often have only roles for men?opera house

Women were not permitted to perform on stage in Shakespeare's time. Even the women's roles were played by men!

If you mean why were so many of the characters men, it is probably because the stories that were considered to be the most interesting involved war or other types of violence in which women, at least for the most part, did not partake (or could not, by custom or law). This is still true today, somewhat, but that's changing.

Why did Shakespeare's plays often have only roles for men?dream theater opera theater

Because at that time it was considered very bad for a woman to perform on stage.

During that time the female rolls were mainly played by men.
it was inappropriate at that time for women to act in plays, not only b/c they were in public, but his plays were "bawdy" as they'd say. The women's roles were played by men anyway.
Because only men were allowed to be actors. Women were pretty much not allowed to do anything but breed. Acting was thought of as a pretty low profesion back then.
Because back in his day women were little more than maids and house keepers....they had no rights and next to no education. You always have to remember the time frame of the author.
Back in Shakespeare's day, all roles were played by men. Casting the role of a woman was difficult because they would use young men or boys for the part.

Consequently, most playwrites of that era avoided creating female roles as much as possible.
because in those times women were not equal to men. so that's why the women's roles were played by young men.
In Shakespeare's time women were not allowed to perform in plays, this was considered indecent. So even the female roles where played by men; usually prepubescent boys. See the film "Shakespeare in Love" for a funny take on this issue.

English society was far more male dominated then, so having many female characters really wasn't a priority.
It was unacceptable for women to be on stage. It was deemed by the monarchy at the time to be a profession for prostitutes and harlots. All the same, the occassional woman did perform, masqueraded as a man.
Actually, I'm hard pressed to think of a Shakespeare play which only had male roles, though of course those roles were all played by men for reasons for moral reasons.

The comedies nearly always have at least two young women as lovers, often in pairs (Helena/Hermia, Hero/Beatrice, Jessica/Portia, Rosalind/Celia, the two Merry Wives, and two pairs in Love's Labors Lost). Some have only one: Marina in Pericles, Perdita in Winter's Tale.

The tragedies generally had wronged women: Opheli, Desdemona, Juliet, Lavinia, Cordelia; or women who did wrong (Tamora in Coriolanus, Lady Macbeth, Regan and Goneril).

The histories, being classic white-male histories, were primarily focused on the men, but they generally have one or two wives running around (e.g. Lady Percy in Henry IV part 1, Elizabeth in Henry V) or comic parts, like Mistress Quickly.

Since they were white-male histories, why have any women at all? Perhaps to keep some of the troupe in work; perhaps to offer a glimpse at the softer side of some of the men. Not to mention some great opportunities for wailing and gnashing of teeth (like Constance in King John, Volumnia in Coriolanus, or Portia in Caesar).

I think the most male play is probably Timon of Athens, which has only two trivial female roles.
Women not acting had nothing to do with lack of education, etc. Many women knew how to read and write and run a household (which required knowledge of mathematics). There a number of noteworthy actresses at various time periods--including shortly before Shakespeare's time. The problem was the acting was considered an inappropriate profession for women to follow. Because of the close proximity and manner of said proximity to various men, women were looked down on as loose or unvirtuous if they were actresses. Some were immoral, but many were not--some were married to playwrights, etc. Thus, most women eschewed a career in acting because they didn't want to deal with the rumours about their reputation.

Shakespeare's company followed the practices of many companies by having the novice actors (young men) perform the female roles. As they aged and gained experience, they would move into the lesser male roles, then the leads. Because a company only had a certain number of young actors who could play women, fewer roles for women were written. They are, though, often incredibly strong roles to play (Ophelia, Gertrude, Lady M, Desdomonda, Miranda), and some are quite extensive. History plays often deal with war and royal intrigue, so not many women were involved anyway.
because back when he wrote it the role of women was small anyway. that's the way he saw it.
In that time period, women were not let into acting. Men played all roles, man and woman.
It was considered scandalous and improper for women to appear in plays (it somehow made them seem immoral) hence the use of men for most of the roles.
That's not true. All of the plays have women in them; not MANY, mind you, but they're there.

Perhaps you're confusing the existence of female charactrers with the fact that, in Shakespeare's day, all of the roles were played by men.
It was ILLEGAL for women to be onstage in Shakespeare's day. Acting was considered immoral for any gender, but men were permitted to bear the "burden". Women were simply too pure to be allowed onstage. Young boys whose voices had not yet changed played women in Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare had fun with this by having women pretend to be men in his plays. One instance is in As You Like It were Rosalind dresses up as a boy to protect herself in the forest where she has been banished to. There, she pretends to be a girl in order to get close to her boyfriend and teach him how to woo her. So that's a boy actor, playing a girl, who dresses up like a boy, and then pretends to be a girl. Now tell me that Shakespeare didn't make the most out of not having female actors.
All the actors were male in Elizabethan theater

"The Cradle Will Rock"

Blitzstein, Houseman and Welles collaborated on the controversial FTP production of The Cradle Will Rock. There are 68 FTP playscripts that have been digitized online. The playscripts are selected from the Federal Theatre Collection. See this link:

Group Theater - "Waiting for Lefty" - this one really sums up the feeling and political spirit of the era's plays.

Orson Welles's Mercury Theatre:

"Vodoo - McBeth"

a comtemporary "Julius Caesar" these plays are both ledgends.

The Federal Theatre Project (FTP), directed by Hallie Flanagan, was created according to Hopkins as a "free, adult, uncensored" federal theater. In addition to theater productions the FTP also established radio units, dance and vaudeville and circus productions, as well as marionette and children's theater companies. Reflecting the times, "***** Units" were established in several cities.

There were a number of theatrical companies in addition to the Federal Theatre鈥攕uch as the Theatre Union and Orson Welles's Mercury Theatre鈥攖hat attempted to put on plays that were artistically challenging as well as socially relevant. No company was more successful in this effort than the aptly named Group Theatre. Founded in 1931 by the directors Harold Clurman, Lee Strasberg, and Cheryl Crawford, and featuring actors such as Stella Adler, John Garfield, Franchot Tone, Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden, and Elia Kazan, the Group Theatre survived throughout the Great Depression in New York City as a noncommercial repertory company without stars or prima donnas, devoted to plays of current significance, and emphasizing a psychologically realistic acting style known as the Method, which Clurman and Strasberg borrowed from the ideas Konstantin Stanislavsky pioneered during his reign as director of the pre-Bolshevik Moscow Art Theatre.

SONY DISCMAN... the cd stops but still plays... why???amc theatre

It's called a buffer.

Read the the bloody instructions and stop wasting our time!

SONY DISCMAN... the cd stops but still plays... why???symphony opera theater

Most Discman and other models of CD player have a buffer which is there to keep the music playing if the unit gets a bump or a jolt. This feature is usually called anti-shock or something similar.

When you listen to the music, you don't listen to it live from the disc, the music actually gets played into a small area of memory called a buffer. The buffer starts off empty but it soons fills up with music information, when the buffer gets full it lets the music through to your earphones or speakers.

If the CD player receives a jolt the music in the buffer can continue playing without skipping whilst the CD sorts itself out.

The reason the Discman can play without the CD turning is that the music remaining in the buffer is playing out until the buffer memory is empty.

Some Discman have a buffer of about 20-40 seconds worth of music which would be about the same as you describe.

I think we should all be able to still do what makes us happy. But too much of anything isn't good. Relationships will suffer. So do those "make you happy" things in moderation.
What are you talking about???I absolutely love video games...I don't think they're immature or anything like that...!!
I'm 35 and can't leave World Championship Snooker alone. Not in front of the missus though. Either when she's out or asleep.
for its me its ok...boys just really love video games and even computers games....as long as you have time 4 your gf its ok.....
sure it's ok i'm 49 and hubby is 59 and we both play video games nothing wrong with it. as long as your gf isn't being neglected have fun.
Your relationship might suffer because you're still playing PS2, get yourself a PS3 and she'll be impressed and want to play along.

What do you think: Plays written by the VA Tech Killer.?

What do you think: Plays written by the VA Tech Killer.?shows

The problem here is that there were signs that the person had something wrong with him. Fellow students and teachers all sensed it and are sharing those feelings now. But what do you do? He is 23 years old, the teachers recommended that he get counceling, but you can't force him to go. And if they had suspended him from school and kicked him off campus that may have made him snap even sooner. And he was anti-social but he was not making threats to harm other students or teachers directly. The plays are disturbing, no doubt, but what do you do when adults show signs like this?

What do you think: Plays written by the VA Tech Killer.?comedy show opera theater

I was JUST reading about that! You would think, all the bad things he put in his plays, officials would have taken more caution. + kids always made fun of him, so there was clearly a motive for him doing it all.
I read the plays, and they certainly are violent. But I'm cautious not to take these two plays out of context; I mean, we're not told if Cho wrote 40 plays, and all the other 38 were about prancing unicorns and sunny summer days. It's easy for us to look at two isolated scripts, and say "oh, everyone should have known".

The problem with creative writing is that it's supposed to be creative, and, in disciplines such as English writing and drama, we must make a distinction between art and life. A lot of the time, teachers push students to explore their creative boundaries, and to even explore taboo or controversial material.

I mean, look at William Shakespeare. If you want to read King Lear, it has really terrible violence - eyes being ripped out of live skulls, and nasty, nasty deaths. In King John, there is another scene where a prisoner's eyes are to be put out with hot pokers. And Romeo and Juliet, a high-school staple, features teen suicide. A lot of other drama and writing has equally - and even more graphic - violence.

But we study this stuff openly in English classes everywhere - it's even considered fine literature. And then, when you compare the violence in literature and the violence imagined by screen writers, directors and producers for many of Hollywood's most celebrated movies and films, Cho's writing really pales into insignificance. I mean, look at "Silence of the Lambs," or any one of the three films in the "Saw" trilogy, which features people's ribcages being ripped open while they're still alive, and people being forced to put their own hands into acid. That's way nastier than Cho's writings, but it made the film producers multi millions.

Because of the graphic nature of a lot of material in English, Drama, and Arts - and because we don't know if Cho wrote other plays that weren't of this orientation, I think it's difficult to condemn his teachers for not "recognising" the "warning signs".

Otherwise, we should probably lock up a great many of the world's best writers and artists in the name of safety and security. And we should probably shut down Hollywood while we're at it.... minds that twisted should be referred to counselling, right?

Incredible Japanese guitarist who plays mutliple parts of songs with one guitar??

Anyone know the name of this Japanese guitarist? He plays 3 parts of a song at once. He strums the guitar with his right hand and also plucks the strings on the neck of the guitar with his left hand and at the same time taps on the guitar's body with his palm to the beat of his songs.. pretty crazy. He's pretty popular in Japan, but i forgot his name..

There's so many nice approaches to this. Check out Michael hedges, who plays hands on over the guitar, like it was a dobro.

Should coaches be allowed to challenge more plays?

I think so. with all of the bad calls I see, I think coaches should be allowed to challenge as many as they want. Here's my idea ..... it's simple. If a Coach challenges a play and wins, they keep all of their challenges and timeouts. If they lose a challenge they lose a time out. If they lose two challenges they lose another timeout and they can't challenge anymore plays.

Should coaches be allowed to challenge more plays?performing shows

Those are good ideas!

I also think every call should be challengeable. For instance, there are times when a bad false start call, which can not be challenged, is more devastating than many calls that can be challenged.

Should coaches be allowed to challenge more plays?say yes opera theater

Yes to more "kinds of situations" no to more in number of times in a game!
i think if the offical can not get the call right then you should be able to challange it
I think coaches should be able flags too. Like a really bad Defensive pass interference? or even a lesser penalty if its a game winning call.

What to do with a girlfriend who plays childish games?

The games she plays for instance are saying things like 'maybe we dont need to be together' just to see what I'll say, then when I say "ok, fine," she'll call me 5 minutes later saying she changed her mind (no, shes not 5 years old, she 20 and Im 21). Another instance would be her pretending to not want sex just to see if ill beg for it, when I say "fine" and go to sleep, she'll change her mind. Basically, she just tests me a lot and plays a lot of mind games with me (by 'test' I mean she'll yell at me in public on purpose just to see if I have the balls to put her in check). Other than that, I do like her and want to stay with her, so what do I do?

I don't think she's changing her mind... She's just saying those things to be playful. You're supposed to play along and make her feel needed, and she should do the same for you.

Sean Hayes purposefully avoids answering that question in the media. The reason he gives is that he doesn't want people to judge his performance based on his personal life. He has said, "When you see me play Jack, I want you to believe that that's a gay character. After Will %26amp; Grace is over, when I play a straight character, I want you to believe that, too." I have the entire script for Wicked, and there isn't much to read. If you want the lines from a certain scene, I could a)email them to you, or b) you could post another question about that.
(Wicked is not a play, it's a musical. There's a difference. And it's not just because it has songs.)

Hi there

Recommendations for books:

The Crafty Art of Playmaking by Alan Ayckbourn

Playwriting: A Practical Guide by Noel Greig (very practical, lots of exercises, but possibly better if you're LEADING a playwriting group - good for self motivation, though)

Writing a Play by Steve Gooch

I'd also advise looking at new writing theatres in your area as they often run playwriting workshops and the input of a real live playwright is invaluable (they can give you feedback, for example). Some of the below also accept unsolicited scripts which they will give you feedback on (check their websites).

London:

Ireland:

Elsewhere... my knowledge is a bit patchy!

Websites that have good info on courses, writing advice etc:

Other posts right in that reading plays and watching them is great. This is the single biggest thing you can do to develop your skills, as long as it's good writing you're reading/watching! (And good writing can be ruined by a bad production)

Good luck. Hold on to your originality and voice even when you temper it with what you read and are advised.

Who do you think plays a more important role? Dad or Mum?

Both are the dearest to us. But just who plays the more important role in entire household in this modern society?

Who do you think plays a more important role? Dad or Mum?events

depends on the family, nowadays they are both equally important in reference to your question most homes are of a two parent working household who both take part in housekeeping and bringing up the children

Who do you think plays a more important role? Dad or Mum?home theatre opera theater

Who ever spend the most physical time with the child plays the more important role.
Both Mum and Dad....just in different ways!
Mum definitely..cooks, drop off %26amp; pick up, finances, wake me up for work. mum, mum, mum...cant live without my mum!! I love my dad as well.
Both r important for life.well! they have totally different roles .SO father can't take place of mom %26amp; vice-versa.
Hie Cal. Well to me in today's modern world both of the person plays a big role in household because nowdays women too goes to work and earn, but still to me Mum will play a very big role. A mom is a person of whereby she give birth to the child, take care of the child bath it and also feed the child. A mum also is the person who you can really trust in whenever you are facing a problem or she will stand by your side and guard you when you are in a trouble. A mum also is a person who can be your first best friend to solve the problem and also will give you a good solution for you to go through. So that is why Istrongly say mum is plays a big role in your household. Try this and hope it might help you..........

ALL THE BEST..............
Mum, for sure for young age.

Right from feeding to teaching how to speak and walk up to the age of toddlers.

Dad's role is more important later on.
both are equal..if there is no dad, there is no you, if there is no mum, there is no you also,

dad plays his role as a man who goes to work, gets the pay, lead and protect the family, (me...) a mother she gives birth, takes care of the children, taks care of the father, she too goes to work, some are housewives, and they care lead the family by trusting their heart,(i have no idea what i am trying to say the correct way) long story cut short, there is no such thing as the more important role, its equal!! (;P) or a thing such as a dad plays a role later on...how does a mom gives brith without a dad? both are equal laaaa....

It's called I'm Still Standing Here

but i forgot the name of the artist.

I think my husband plays head games with me. Why?

I feel like I am crazy. He lies to me straight to my face and he denies stuff a lot. He makes me believe that he is telling the truth. He makes me question my own sanity. Like, did I see/hear that or not? Know what I mean? I have a hard time putting it into words so bear with me, please. I feel like he plays mind games with me. What makes someone do that? And why the hell am I still with him??

I think my husband plays head games with me. Why?binoculars

There are some who would say he does what he does because he can, because you allow him. I would say he plays these insidious games to control you and I would say you are still with him because it is very painful to admit even to yourself that you made a mistake unless other areas of the marriage still function.

The worst is that an adult person who treats you like an enemy cannot be relied upon to tell you the truth even if you asked him.

The questions you will need to answer now is:

Have you the right to be happy with the person you are married to?

And the answer of course is yes, then are you happy with this man?

I think my husband plays head games with me. Why?violin opera theater

If he's doing this HE'S the one with the head problems. Probably wouldn't do any good but I'd tell him he's needs some spiritual %26amp; professional help. DO NOT stay in such an abusive relationship!.
such kind of person is abusive and can be dangerous later on. i'm not trying to scare you but i can tell. if you are starting to question your sanity right now, the problem is just starting. he will be doing this to you to drive you crazy. so please take care of yourself.
He is manipulating you to make the relationship the way he wants it. You are right. Why are you still with him? There is no trust and no respect. You should never be with someone who makes you feel less than the best you can be. And never be with anyone who disrespects you. Respect yourself. Move on and be happy.
He is manipulating you for his own advantage....and you are letting him because you do not believe you do not deserve it.
You married an abusive man. Passive aggressive. He appears to be a real charmer to others, to you, he treats you like you haven't a penny in the jar. So...you have to ask yourself the sad, but classic question. Are you enjoying yourself? No? Then get out of this one way relationship. NO one does this to someone they love. He knows what he's doing and he is enjoying himself. He likes torturing you, it's a form of control. This is abuse. You don't get even, you get mad and you move out. File for divorce and get some counseling for yourself, because, you married this clown...you need to find out why...so you can have a relationship with a loving, wondeful person who actually gives a rip about you and what you think. Just an opinion.
What you just said reminded me of an old movie with Ingrid Bergman. Its called Gaslight. Anyway her husband played head games with her too but he was after some jewels.. long story.

Anyway whatever head games is trying to play is because he sees you as a weak individual. You need to build your self esteem, maybe see a counselor. It doesnt mean that there is anything wrong with you. Its something wrong with him. He's manipulating you.
He could have Borderline Personality disorder or at least some features. People with this tend to be pathological liars.
You're husband doesnt have the power to play head games with you. You are playing head games with yourself. You know what's going on, and you know the truth, you also know why your still with him. People are afraid of change, not just because they fear failure, but they also fear success. You may be afraid to leave him because if you do succeed, you may not be able to live up to that success and come crashing down. The reason that you are still with him is because your content. You're situation isn't bad enough for you to leave, therefore; you are still able to function. Just be true to yourself, and you will choice the right path.

Where can i find a critical analysis of these plays online?

We have a homework assignment for AP english to find a "critical essay or review" about each of the plays we have to read over the summer.

the three plays are:

1. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard

2. Hamlet by William Shakespeare

3. Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

the information the teacher gives us is this: "You are to find and read ONE critical essay or review for EACH work. Critical essays and reviews are readily available online and your selection should be at least THREE pages in length"

the PROBLEM is this: not only are they NOT readily available online, every time i look i find only those kind of essays that you can buy as term papers, or else the ones that i do find are reviews of a performance of the plays, or they are not three pages in length when put into a word document.

My son 22 years plays computer games day and night. He got 0 GPA in college for last 4 years. Please

My son goes to college for last four years but I don't know whether he attends the classes or not.He either misses the class or final exam. He scored Zero GPA. If I ask, he does not tell any thing and ends his answer "whatever" and " I don't care". Can some one tell me what kind of help he needs. Sometimes I feel he is too much worried about everything and blames everyone for his failure in life. He thinks he is failure in his life. He is intelligent and has a potential. He is keenly interestested in computer games and plays day and night non stop with his few friends. His youger brother 20 years old who is extrovert and goes to college, he feels inferiority complex when I talk about his brother. Please advise

My son 22 years plays computer games day and night. He got 0 GPA in college for last 4 years. Please help.?globe theater

It is time to tell your son that you will no longer support him. He had his opportunity to go to college and he wasted it. He will not become a responsible adult as long as you continue to provide for his needs. He has chosen to be a failure and you encourage it by allowing him to live with you, use your electricity to play computer games, eat your food, and disrespect you.

Since he has a zero GPA, there is no reason in the world to stop him from dropping out of school. Being enrolled in school is his excuse to continue to use you. My son thanked me several months after I told him to move out. He has a job, pays his own bills now and is thinking about what kind of schooling he really needs. He knows that he will have to go to school part-time and work to support himself, but he admits that telling him to move out was a good thing.

Hunger, homelessness, and uncertainty about your future are powerful wake-up calls.

My son 22 years plays computer games day and night. He got 0 GPA in college for last 4 years. Please help.?oper opera theater

your son needs to wake up to do that im very sorry to say you need to get him out of the house kick him out if you have show him that your not always going to be there for him and that if he doesn't wake up soon hes going to end up in the home.
Considering it is your money, take it away. Take away the computer and force him to get a job.
the two of you should sit down and have a proper conversation about how his living his life!!

if he doesn't get his act together right now its going to very difficult for him in the future!!
What do you mean, you don't know if he goes to class or not? And why do you allow " whatever" as an answer from your child? If he's not going to class, set him up in an apartment for one month. During that time he can find a job and learn to support himself. Unless you take control, he'll still be in your home when he's 30, still playing games like a little kid.
kick his *** out of your house, believe me, if you let him stay he is gonna be there for the rest of your life and his, it is time he stands on his own two feet, tell him either, go to school or get out.....simple as that
If he has had a "0" GPA for four years, I doubt he's in college at all! Do YOU pay the tuition bill or give him the money for it? If you are giving him the money, I doubt he's spending it there!

I can't think of any college that would have kept him enrolled for four years with "grades" like that!

I agree with other posters, you need to not worry so much about his self esteem and kick him out of the house -- otherwise in 25 years he'll still be in his room playing video games!

If you truly think he needs help, take him to a mental health center for an evaluation. However, it sounds to me like whatever "help" he needs is for you guys to quit enabling him. Tough love is called for!

Why were prostitutes used in shakespear's plays like Bianca in Othello?

We are acting out the play Othello, and my character is Bianca, I have to do a project to find out why Shakespear used prostitutes in his plays...like Bianca.

Why were prostitutes used in shakespear's plays like Bianca in Othello?state theatre

Check out a few definitions of "courtesan," which is a far better description of Bianca's profession than "prostitute." I'm not trying to imply that sex wasn't part of the deal, but I always had the sense that there was much more of a domestic component to the Bianca/Casio relationship than that. As much as Casio tries to downplay the seriousness of the relationship, he seems genuinely taken with Bianca, and only derides her at Iago's urging.

Hmm. If your teacher is a liberal, she probably wants you to say something like, "Shakespeare, as a white male, took advantage of women and overly sexualized them in his narratives, thus making prostitutes a natural choice."

Introduce your paper with a thesis statement, a strong statement that you can prove with evidence. It is not a simple statement of fact. A thesis statement should be the product of your own critical thinking after you have done some research. Your thesis statement will be the main idea of your entire project. It is your belief, right or wrong, that the rest of your paper will support.

Is there a portable MP3 player that plays 8kHz files?

I am having great problems finding an MP3 player that plays 8 or 11kHz "voice podcasts" which are in MP3 format.

For example, last night I spent $120 on a Samsung MP3 player which cannot play any MP3s less than 22kHz.

I have lots of "voice" MP3s which are 8 to 11Khz, 2-channel and 16kbits/s %26amp; take ages to convert to 22kHz on my pc.

Do u think that u should be able to challenge plays for baseball?

do u think that u should be able to challenge plays for baseball? whut if the batter hits a home run but the ump says foul dont u think u should be able to challenge the play to maybe get the game winning home run and u might make it to the playoffs cause of that one play i think it would be fair to do that dont u?

Do u think that u should be able to challenge plays for baseball?concert tickets

No, Because its what makes the game fun to talk abpout. It gets the media started, rumors, and opinions will start to spread like a plague. If it happend that would make history like the call last year in the NLCS when I think A.J. Pierzynski was batting and he got first base when the catcher dropped the strike three pitch. Fans and the broadcasters were replaying the clip from every camera veiw. I thought that was a great example of a variable that can alter a game. So no the game is fun the way it is bad calls always happen but its what makes it exciting. Whats the Call going to be STRIKE 3 YOU"RE OUT.

Do u think that u should be able to challenge plays for baseball?theater seating opera theater

NO, because it isnt the way of baseball. Football shouldnt even down that.
no. baseball is the only real sport to not have replay, and it's for a reason. to implement replay in baseball would take the human element out, and that's part of what makes baseball the greatest friggin sport in the world. sure, umps blow a call here and there, but for the most part, they even out.
You can do that; it's called appealing the play. It is usuallly overturned, but it is possible to request that the umpires come together and discuss it.
If you mean instant replay , No. Managers challenge umpires decisions all the time now (except for calling balls and strikes, they can't do that). They can and do come out and question the umpires decisions on close plays when they think the umpire is wrong.
No way! Just because we have the technology to do it, doesn't mean it's a good idea. Teams have just as many calls go for them as they do against them. That's why they play a 162 game schedule and have playoff series instead of playing single elimination.
No that would be so stupid. It would ruin the game.
Tradionalist here...No way. That is the breaks, you take the game as it is. Flaws and all. Even questec ticked me off.
no
No because then there would have to be replays and I am totally against that. Its is just how baseball is.Every team suffers because of a bad call but that team will eventually have its turn when they gain because of a bad call so it all works out and its all just how the game works.
no because then there will be a challenge play about every single game lots at the plate first and 2 lots for steals first to 2 and 2 to 3 but lots seeing if a man was out for a double or 3 and strikes and balls lots for the phills

What were some the plays performed for Commedia Dell Arte?

I'm doing a project for my Theatre Arts class and we are required to search an era of theatrical history. I picked Commedia Dell Arte. I just need some plays that i can perform. PLEASE HELP!!!

What were some the plays performed for Commedia Dell Arte?performing art center

OK...so you just happened to pick the one genre in all of theatre history in which the plays were improvised, and almost never written down!

Seriously..."Commedia dell'arte" was improv comedy based on stock characters, classic bits known as "lazzi" (this is where the term "slapstick" came from), and scenarios--outlines of plots that would be posted backstage, and the actors would riff off them and create the play. The whole point (in a way) was that by making it up fresh every time you did it, it kept the shows spontaneous and alive.

However: later, some writers did write down script versions of scenarios that had existed, and you should be able to find some. Two good examples to look for: "The Three Cuckolds" and "The Servant of Two Masters", the latter by Carlo Goldoni. Check around on the 'net or at the library; might be harder to find at a bookstore, but it never hurts to try Amazon. Another thought: find a scenario, and then enlist some clever people to do a 5 minute improv off of it--to give the idea of what commedia would really have been like. Good luck!

What were some the plays performed for Commedia Dell Arte?theatre tickets opera theater

The Servant of Two Masters and various plays featuring Pierre Patelin are cited but in reality Commedia performed non-scripted scenarios rather than scripts or "plays" as we know them.
Someone already said this, but yeah: Servant of Two Masters.

We did it last semester and it's a really good one if done right, with masks and everything. I think it's one of the most well-known in the genre.
The best thing to do is to research the different characters from commedia- they each have a special mask, which are still made in parts of italy today. check out these websites for an overview: http://www.theatrehistory.com/italian/co...

And here has great images of masks:

Some RECENT shows you may have seen him in are: "The Wedding Bells," "State of Mind," "Boom Town," "JAG," "Melrose Place," "Walker Texas Ranger," and "Boston Public," but he was also a contract regular on "Jack %26amp; Jill" a few years ago, as well as appearing several times (but always portraying different characters) on "Murder She Wrote."

Advice pls - 16 yo plays divorced parents against each other?

My 16 yo son is in big trouble at our house (his primary residence) b/c he told his 5 yo sis to call me the worst swear word you can call a woman (begins with c)! Now he wants to live with his dad who is never home - no supervision! About 2 months ago, my 16 yo was in big trouble with his dad %26amp; didn't want to visit him at his house. Of course, we made him visit his dad as we had arranged. My son plays me %26amp; his dad against each other to his advantage. We're having a big family meeting tomorrow nite - my son, his dad, me, also my hubby, the step-dad. I'm concerned my son is going in a wrong path. What should we do? Any serious suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Advice pls - 16 yo plays divorced parents against each other?chinese theater

You need to get your son into therapy. He is very unhappy, and you know it. There are a lot of mistakes that divorced parents can make to cause the unhappiness in the child. I know when I remarried, my daughter hated my new husband and she even kicked a door into his face! :0

But I got her into therapy and I read this book called the Unhappy Child by K. Condrell and it describes a lot about why your child may be unhappy and offers helpful suggestions towards making him happy again. Get the book, get several parenting books, and read them. Love your son unconditionally and get him the help he needs to be apart of your family again.

Advice pls - 16 yo plays divorced parents against each other?opera mini opera theaterYou are going to love that book! There is a chapter on how the kids are unhappy because they feel that you love your kids from your new marriage more than you love them! As adults we don't realize that our kids don't have an adult mentality and cannot understand life. I wish you all the best! Report It

the adults need to have better communication. After all, he can't play you guys against eachother if you're all on the same team. Sounds like the family meeting is a good idea.
My son tried this but I wouldn't allow it to work. A family meeting is great. My suggestion is talk with your son listen to him you'll probably find he may blame himself for you divorcing.Whatever you do It's not good getting in a screaming match with him. Let him know that you all are prepared to listen to what he has to say and then have your say but keep calm. We tried this and I know my tongue was very sore as I bit it hard. Persist with it though as My son will be 21 this year and he turned his life around we have a great relationship. Maybe you your ex and hubby need to discuss about the playing against each other and try to work on a strategy.
Sound's like you're doing all you can....you can only do so much then it's up to the kids to either straighten out or not...do your best, thats all you can do and all thats expected...

None of us is super woman...don't try to please everyone. YOU need a life to and deserve one without all the selfishness of the other 'men' in your life (excluding husband #2)..

Take care and I hope everything goes Ok...

[[[ ]]] sending warmth and peace your way..
If he is playing the parents one against the other then the parents are allowing him to do so. Whether you are divorced or not you and his father need to be on the same page when it comes to the children you created together. You all have to sit down and set the rules and STICK TO THEM. Even at 16 kids NEED consistency.
what i did in this situation was sit down with my ex and his wife we talked about how i wanted the kids disciplined and what The rules should be at both homes at my home they could not say butt dad said and same for his house

then the 3 of us sat down with the kids and talked with them and let them know just how all of it would work and what was not allowed and punishment at one house carried over to the other

as adults and parents you have to put aside all your problems with each other and do whats best for the children you all love them and want the best

good luck
